When the Plans Change

If you have watched HGTV for any amount of time, you’re familiar with the fact that when building or renovating a home, some sort of setback seems inevitable. Setbacks aren’t just for reality TV, they happen! In the latest episode of our Coats Homes video series, Jamie Charles joins us again to talk more about her custom home building experience. In case you missed Jamie’s first appearance on our YouTube channel, she is the homeowner of our show stopping Beverly project! In last week’s episode, she shared how her family made the best of finding out their plan of having a second-floor balcony was no longer a possibility due to city regulations.

The goal in building our Beverly project was to create a home where intentional family time could be had around every corner. Having a second-floor balcony was a part of this vision. However, as stated in the video, city regulations prevented us from being able to execute on building the balcony. With the goal of a gathering place in mind, we built a bowling alley instead! We absolutely love how this turned out and the value it adds to the Charles family’s life.
